I''d like to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn .........The Tompkins Projects to be exact. As a kid, I enjoyed activities such as ice skating at Prospect Park every Saturday night with siblings and friends, then chowing down at the fast food joint on the way home. I started working/helping out young, by accompanying my father on ac/refrigeration calls for repair.... interesting and rewarding work that gave me an entrepreneurial spirit. To this day, my father does not deny teaching to one who is willing to learn, male or female. As for mom, she is the dancer in my eyes. I was never so impressed the day my brother got married and she "tore-up" the floor.... that made a lasting impression!
I attended elementary school four blocks away and in the 5th grade I wrote my first song, a collaboration with my best friend.... it was a jazzy comedic situation where a child played a practical joke on his granny.... it involved a banana peel (you get the idea).
As a freshman, I wrote my second song, it was about friendship and I realized it was one of those personal qualities that makes us all individuals. My thing is the ability to set words to music.... and to compose music.... pretty good for a novice who learned simply by listening. After high school, I worked at numerous jobs that never fulfilled my true calling.
In setting a goal for the working future, entertainment was not an area that was encouraged. After many years and oh so many dissatisfying jobs, an opportunity to train to become a Licensed Practical Nurse presented itself via the N.Y.C. Board of Ed. (thank you).... it changed my life for the better. Making a decent wage, I could now afford to hire piano players and musicians to bring my original music to the people''s ears.
A few years ago, I had the honor to audition for Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater. I performed, "The Greatest Love of All", a Capella.... without a peep from the audience, that was affirming (thank you also).
I have performed around the city, the likes of Billy Joel, Steveland Wonder, Barbara Streisand, Oleta Adams and Ella Fitzgerald, along with original works.... from Pop to Jazz, R & B, Dance, Ballads and Gospel!
I am releasing my CD single, "For Love Sake" at this moment. It contains the self-titled dance track, along with an original ballad entitled "True". The instrumental tracks are also included (enjoy).
My helpers and I will keep you posted of any up and coming events, news, releases, freebies and everything else.
