Details:
Linn Brown has been writing and playing music for many years. Her songs have been praised as being honest and worldly.

Linn plays keyboards and sings. She was part of a songwriter’s collective at the Red Herring Coffeehouse in Urbana, Illinois, where she sometimes opened and sang back-ups for Dan Fogelberg. She was part of the weekly songwriter line-up, and was a featured artist at the Fall and Spring Folk Festivals. While living in Boston, MA, she played regularly at the Nameless Coffeehouse in Cambridge. In Ithaca, New York, she performed with The Dean Brothers and was a regular performer at The Rongovian Embassy, Nite Court and the State Street Theatre where she opened for Livingston Taylor. Linn lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and has performed at local venues including The Noe Valley Ministry, The Jazz House, The Red Cafe, World One Day, KBBK Studios, Coast Studios, and A Great Good Place For Books. In the summer of 2006, she performed with her brother, Joel Brown, and friend, Dave Maswick, at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY. She then went to Trumansburg, NY, and played the Stagefright reunion concert at the Rongovian Embassy, with former bandmates, John and Berto Dean. Linn’s father, Frank Brown, stole both sold out shows, when he played his jazz clarinet on her song “Completely Misunderstood”.

In years past, Linn’s music could be heard in the form of television news themes and station promotion songs. She has won contests and media awards for her songs, film scores, music for television, lyrics and poetry. “The Ballad of Lorna Hawkins”, a song about anti-drive-by shooting crusader, Lorna Hawkins, was used in conjunction with The Million Mom March.
Songs from her CDs, “mend” and “Passion and Temperance”, are getting airplay on “The Midnight Special” hosted by Rich Warren, as well as on internet stations and podcasts.

Linn comes from a family of performing musicians. She studied music education at the University of Illinois, and arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Currently, along with writing and recording, Linn gives music lessons and classes for young children, especially for those with developmental disabilities.
