Details:
I was born in Walla Walla a small prison town in eastern Washington on February 19th 1965. After I was born my family moved to Spokane Washington mostly known for hiding some of the worst criminals in US history. My obsession with music started at a very young age. Sneaking into my older brother''s room to play his old $10.00 beat up guitar fueled the drive that would consume the rest of my life. By the age of 10 I had formed my own band Joker and was writing songs. With a mix of original and cover songs I started playing gigs at high school keggers, state fairs, local theaters and just about anywhere else that would let me crank up my old Fender Super Reverb amp. It didn''t take long until I was a "big fish in a small pond". After graduating from Ferris High School in 1983 I set my sights for greener pastures and moved to Los Angeles California. With big dreams of stardom I quickly found out that this was going to be a long hard road to success. After spending a few years learning how to survive in a city that eats musicians alive my band started headlining clubs on the Sunset strip in Hollywood. This was getting me lots of attention from other bands that were looking for new members. After hitting the road with a few of these bands I quickly realized that I was not satisfied being a hired gun. This was a pivotal point in my career. I started to focus all my energy on my own music and put together the punk band HOG. After doing a few gigs HOG signed with Geffen Records in 1996. This was a sweet victory for me after paying my dues now for 13 years in LA. The high of "making it" was short lived. Due to low record sales and changing record company personal HOG was dropped from the label. I didn''t let this stop my drive for success. I used this opportunity to reinvent myself and come back with something that would take me to the next level. After doing some soul searching and recording a handful of new songs I set out to shop for a new recording contract. This time it wouldn''t take me 13 years to get noticed. After shopping my new demo I had the attention of several major labels ultimately signing with Hollywood Records in 1998. My self titled album released in 2000 was a mix of rock, soul, funk and country. To some music industry types it was too "out of the box" for them to get behind it. This unfortunately was something that Hollywood Records started to believe as well. My first solo album was abandoned by the label and there was virtually no promotion or publicity giving me no choice but to get out of the contract. This was not the case in the film and TV industry. My music was a hit being licensed for many movies such as 10 Thing I Hate About You, Driven, and Laurel Canyon. The television industry felt the same way licensing my music for shows like Scrubs, Arrested Development and Alias just to name a few. This was something that I was very proud of but still it didn''t satisfy the need to get my music out to the people. Though having my music on TV and in the movies was great it didn''t replace a good old live rock and roll show! With new music flowing from my studio I decided to start my own indie label TML Records to release my new music. My second solo record SQUISH was released in late 2005 and has again been licensed heavily by the film and TV industry. With the future looking very bright I''m getting ready to release a new album and hit the road sometime in 2006!
