"Baula Project" offers emotional melodies and amazing performances by a unique ensemble of Costa Rican musicians including Miranda on all guitars, two-time Grammy winner Walter Flores on piano and flute, Gil Jarquín (Malpais) on drums, Mario Alvarez on bass, and ''Tapado'' (Editus) on percussion.
Original music was written by Miranda and also includes a new arrangement for electric guitar of ''In Aranjuez with your love'' based on the Second Movement of the ''Concierto de Aranjuez'' by Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo.
The music on "Baula Project" was inspired by the oceans of Costa Rica and is dedicated to protect the Leatherback Turtle. Part of the sales is donated to the "Las Baulas" Marine National Park and the Marviva Foundation.
ARTIST BIO
Guitarist and composer Federico Miranda was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. He began playing at the age of 12 and has been active for more than a decade as lead guitarist for Costa Rica’s pioneer rock band, Gandhi. As a member of Gandhi, Miranda has recorded four albums, received National awards, toured throughout Central America, and shared the stage with artists such as Café Tacuba (México) and Deep Purple (UK). Mostly self-taught, Miranda also studied at Berklee College of Music and received master classes from jazz guitarist Steve Khan. Miranda is officially endorsed by DiMarzio pickups.
