Crouch is a forceful guitar man that has his chops down, and so do his band mates and the various guests that appear on this project. at times he rips off some impressive licks reminiscent of Clapton or Stevie Ray On the instrumental Serenity, Crouch and his crackerjack band exercise a marvelous display of sharp-as-a-razor six-string dexterity with a tip of the hat to all the great blues-rock players that have come and gone, and they do it beautifully.

Crouch can torch an electric guitar a la Stevie Ray Vaughn, but he also knows when to pull back and deliver languid, Santana-like, while-my-guitar-gently-weeps solos, as on the blues instrumentals "Time and Place" and "Serenity." Several songs break from the blues. The wandering-troubadour vibe of Steffen''s "Give ''Til It Hurts" recalls the Band, while the shimmering acoustic guitar of the instrumental "Debra" is in the vein of Duane Allman''s "Little Martha."
