MP3 The Crucial Fiction - The Yellow Album

A new and exciting sound from three simple souls trying to work it all out.

17 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Psychedelic

Details:
In April of 2004, The Crucial Fiction, recorded a three song demo in the basement of a Berkeley CO-OP. A positive reaction to the demo put the song writing process in high gear, and the band cranked-out twenty original tunes during the summer of 2004 in anticipation of recording a full-length album. While living together in a small yellow house in El Cerrito, The Crucial Fiction recorded, edited, and mixed their songs, working with the loose concept of a “Yellow Album.” >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Yellow Album is the portrait and product of a band discovering itself. It flows like a good story, with intriguing rising action leading to artful climaxes, and just enough resolution to leave you wanting more. The sound progresses from indie rock to funk to psychedelic improvisation, incorporating touches of reggae and hip-hop along the way. Though “All’s Well” seems to be the stand out single, there are gems throughout. From the prominent bass, drunken trumpet and leisurely guitar combinations of "Competent Liar," to guitarwork that ranges from scintillating to scorching on tracks like "2 Dresses," "Cat Eyes," and "Evolution." The latter is a beautiful and daring epic of amateur recording experiments gone awry, a veritable microcosm of the album. Like the varied shades of yellow on its cover, the Yellow Album holds many surprises within its layered texture.
