CTK Biography

This is the story of how Connecticut Killers came to be. Poppin’ Paul, and Strapat first were friends, that seemed to have not much in common. But little did they know they would turn out to be more than just friends…but a rap group. One day during the summer of 2005, Patrick and Paul were hanging around at Paul’s house and were trying to decide what to do. They were talking and came upon a topic they could agree on, Rap. Patrick discussed how he used to write lyrics and Paul discussed how much fun it would be to get into something like that. So they started to write a rap. Pat and Paul found out that they both once lived in Naugatuck, Connecticut. That was what the two decided to write about since they could both relate to it. The rap turned into a full track and was titled, “Welcome To Naugatuck”. After this track was written, the two had to decide upon group names. This was easy for deciding upon their own separate names. Pat decided upon choosing an original name, unlike any other. He wanted to let people know he was armed (strapped) and dangerous, as well as letting them know who he was (Pat). He put the two together to get StraPat. Paul wanted to come up with a name that included his real first name (Paul) and also wanted something in it that would make the name sound violent. This lead to choosing the word Poppin'' to go before it to create Poppin’ Paul. Next was onto creating a group name that the two agreed on. At first, they had no clue what it would be, so they started to make a list...and finally came to CTK-ConnecticuT Killers. Many people have influences to their rap, idols who helped motivate them into such a career. Strapat musical influences are Eminem, D12, and 50 Cent. Poppin'' Paul’s are Eminem, 50 Cent, G-Unit (Everyone in G-Unit records), D12, and Everyone in Shady Records. Naugatuck and the BMX Park in Trumbull (even though it''s trespassing) were the favorite spots to hang out for CTK. They eventually had to buy equipment to use for the whole project, so they pitched in and found out Strapat had a Laptop, and decided to buy a Playstation 2 USB Headset (for recording-which later turned into buying a microphone), and MAGIX Music Maker Software(for beats). CTK’s view of the music over the internet is, “It allows us to get our music all over the world, instead of only around here. This helps us get more rep.” This is how CTK, Connecticut Killers, became known as it is.
