Black Sabbath Led Zeppelin (Plant & Bonham), Judas Priest. Bands that set the template for the future of Heavy Rock and Metal all have a common thread. They all came from central England from an area called ‘The Black Country’.
The V-Rats are Black Country born and bred and very aware and immensely proud of this heritage. Their debut album ‘Intelligent Design’ is an eclectic mix of these roots as well as giving a nod towards the contemporary end of the rock spectrum.
The V-Rats hail from a session based back ground working with artists from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Tygers Of Pan Tang to name a few. Because of this, the band has major sponsor deals in the US with Spector Bass Guitars and Moser Custom Guitars. In the UK; Ashdown and Marshall Amplification.
The V-Rats were already being used as a ‘band for hire’ for live work so the transition to The V-Rats becoming a band in their own right was a natural progression (with the bands name coming from a comment made by Deep Purples manager years earlier).
The V-Rats album Intelligent Design was recorded at Magnums M2 studio with the Magnum theme continuing with Intelligent Design featuring original artwork by world renowned artist Rodney Matthews (who’s album covers have given rise to a rabid cult following of his work).
The V-Rats are now gearing up for their incendiary live shows in 2009 that kicked off in Los Angeles.

The kind of music V-Rats make reminds you of when you first fell in love with heavy music, how the big fat riffs, thick vocals and soaring lead guitars made you feel. I''d say the band''s music is a throwback (didn''t I just do that??) but the matter is this style of music goes out of vogue for a while, then seems to come roaring back for extended periods of time when people find and or/remember how good hard rock can really be. Plus, you have a song like "Lisa", which in any era would be a modern rock hit. It is true what has always been said, good songs with great hooks and chorus never goes out of style. V-Rats can bring the fire that goes with the trials of life (Point Of No Return), bringing the mode of tension to the forefront. Without a doubt the band is much more than alterna-pop-metal smaltz. These boys rock! Check out one of last year''s best hard rock releases - The UK does it again!
