When You Don not Know What to Blog About
Well, one of the best things that you can blog about when you don’t know what to blog about, is blogging about not knowing what to blog about! (did that sentence confuse you? :P ) Ok, so I admit that part of the reason for this post is because I don’t know what to blog about, hence the need for me to blog about my lack of ideas for blogging. And another reason is because I’m feeling naughty and want to see how confused I can make you feel by repeatedly talking about how I’m blogging about not knowing what to blog about. :D However, there is a good reason for using this tactic in times of need, and here are the ways in which it can help you overcome that bout of writer’s block:
1. By blogging about not not knowing what to blog, you now know what to blog about and you are able to start blogging again too!
It’s a well-known fact that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. This is also true for journeys of a hundred miles, journeys of ten miles, and even journeys of one mile. If you want to overcome that horrible writer’s block, then the best way is by starting to write something. But you can’t write about something if you don’t know what to write about, so write about not knowing what to write about so you have something to write about! : )
2. It’s a tactic used by a lot of writer’s, even though they might not realize they’re using it.
How many times have you read a story by some writer about another writer who encounters writer’s block, and goes far away and begins their new, adventurous, romantic life in search of inspiration for something to write about? Chances are, when they wrote that story about someone with writer’s block, they were having writer’s block themselves.
3. Writer’s block can give you a lot of things to write about.
Blogging about not having anything to blog about is not all you can do. There are a lot of variations you can add to this theme, such as blogging about what you should do when you don’t know what to blog about, blogging about how it feels to have nothing to blog about, blogging about how you sold all your stuff and went on an exciting and romantic adventure in order to find something to blog about, and so on.
4. Blogging about not not knowing what to blog helps you improve your relationship with your readers.
By letting your readers know that you don’t know what to blog about, you are in essence telling them why it’s taking so long for that next blog post that they have been impatiently waiting for. It also creates a sense that you are more of a real person, than just another mean, green blogging machine. You could even put forward a request for comments on ideas your reader so may have for finding things to write about. "I have nothing to blog about, and I’m not afraid to admit it!"
5. You will find a lot more things to write about along the way.
Just by beginning to blog about not knowing what to blog about, you will find ideas quickly rushing into your head! And you won’t have to worry about what to write for your next post anymore.
