BALTIMORE’S CHARLIE WEST PRESENTS
LATEST CD “I MUST BE IN THE WRONG PLACE”

West Upholds His Unique Psychedelic-Folk-Pop-Acoustic-Electric Sound In This Indie-Label Release

BALTIMORE, MD-Charlie West hits the beat again, this time with his third CD, I Must Be In The Wrong Place. Recorded at Moss Studios in Baltimore, this latest work entices the discriminating listener with West’s typical folk-pop blend, while delivering an electric guitar punch, melodic lyrics and abstract thoughts.

Wrong Place offerings such as the lead-off song “Tell Me”, along with “Jennifer Monday” showcase West’s acoustic guitar-picking talent while “Simple” carries a blend of intense electric psych-rock. The eerie wrap-up tune “Rows” treats the listener to West’s introspective nature.

Drawing influences ranging from early Pink Floyd to present-day Wilco, multi-instrumentalist Charlie West is the self-proclaimed “Psychedelic Folkster” who lends credibility to the singer-songwriter genre. At age fourteen, West started strumming and by age eighteen began putting words and music together. In 1988, West’s only vinyl release Wasted Time, recorded under the pseudonym “Chazz”, was in heavy rotation at college radio stations in Maryland, Virginia and D.C. This out-of-print album still can be found at used record stores, on the internet and in Brad Knox’s basement.

West continued performing and recording in a variety of bands and as a solo artist from 1989 through 1993. His 2001 release, The Charlie West Temporary A.M. Band, and 2003 release, Confuse My Fuzziness, received excellent reviews locally and nationally. In defining this artist’s work, critics have drawn comparisons ranging from Dylan to early Fleetwood Mac, from Love and Rockets to Elliott Smith, and many in between.

I Must be in the Wrong Place is available on the Parapsychosis Records label, retailed through CD Baby (https://www.tradebit.com) and Tower Records (https://www.tradebit.com) and downloadable at apple itunes (https://www.tradebit.com Lincoln Cross lends his percussive talents while Teri Moss contributes lyrics.
