C SUN
ARTIST/ SONGWRITER/ PRODUCER

Native of New Jersey and resident C Sun, born Hopeton St Clair Hibbert, Jr., is a hip hop artist that has also perfected a skill in the kitchen. C Sun started his culinary journey in 1993. During that time, C Sun was also writing his mental expressions in a notebook. “Both cooking and writing are my freedom to express . . . it’s like expressing yourself mentally by writing rhymes and physically by cooking.”

C Sun started like most hip hop lovers, livin’ in the culture. “I started freestyling, writing rhymes, and just taking it all in.” Inspired by artists like Nas, KRS-ONE, BlackSheep, Wu-Tang, C Sun brings a well-rounded view of life to the table. “As I began to notice my writing skills dominating my freestyles, I began shopping for beats and forming song concepts.” While working on his culinary experiences, he continued to mediate on the world and write down his experiences in his notebook.

During a six-year period (1993-1999), C Sun wrote rhymes and experimented with beats. Eventually, he began to write songs. “I started to develop concepts and style on paper. My first song was ‘Temperature Crisis’. It is about being aware of your surroundings ‘cause times are changing.” C Sun started to fine-tune his craft around the same time he was at his culinary career turning point.

In 2000, C Sun had four songs completed and was making plans to invest in production. “I felt that I needed to invest in my own business. . .” Since 1999, C Sun has been performing at several open mics around the city of Atlanta. He has been the feature performer at spots like Apache Café and D’Jangos. His purpose was to create a buzz. C Sun is a solo artist whose stage presence needs no backup . . . and his presence is definitely known.

In 2002, C Sun started doing his own full production and in 2004 created his publishing company, Lyrical Assets Publishing Company. “I had a desire to accomplish my master plan.” He also created his own independent record label, ‘Small Things to a King’. C Sun then recorded two songs with Cool Million Records titled, “Spaz Out” and “Piece of the Pie”.

In 2005, C Sun became the Executive Chef at Eclipse di Luna, a well-known tapas restaurant in Atlanta. At the same time, his music career also came full circle. In May of 2005, C Sun started to cultivate his album, ‘Long Time Comin’. It is an album that incorporates a jazz feel and is laid back quite like his personality. His lyrics are creative and are full of favor, just like the food he cooks. Currently, the album is available for sale for your listening pleasure.
