Details:
Saxophonist/composer Ron Dziubla calls Los Angeles, California home. A sideman for most of his 20 plus year career, he lives a sort of dual life, touring and recording with the hottest names in Latin pop music-—Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Franco de Vita, Marc Anthony, and Alejandro Fernandez-—and the coolest names in the blues, rock, and roots music world—-Royal Crown Revue, Los Straitjackets, Sextus, Deke Dickerson, Janiva Magness, James Intveld, Kid Ramos, Los Fabulocos, Rick Holmstrom, Link Wray, and rock and roll hall of fame member Duane Eddy.

Acclaimed Los Angeles saxophonist Ron Dziubla’s latest release, Some Strange Blues, finds inspiration in the gritty streets of Los Angeles: from a chase up the PCH to a shakedown somewhere on Sunset Boulevard. The thick, smoky and sometimes screaming tone of Dziubla''s tenor is the centerpiece of a lush, noir soundscape that juxtaposes the warmth of analog keyboards and reverb-drenched electric guitar amplified through tube amps with the haunting smolder of drum loops and drones.

Joined by some of Los Angeles'' finest blues and roots musicians, on Some Strange Blues, Dziubla takes listeners on a journey through modern Los Angeles in a time machine built out of a resurrected 1950’s rock and roll jukebox. This is an album of thrilling urban instrumental blues with mid-century modern vibrations.
Along with Ron Dziubla (saxophone, composer, producer), Some Strange Blues features David Cabrera, Kid Ramos, Junior Watson, R.J. Ronquillo, Rick Holmstrom, Eric Dover and Deke Dickerson (guitar); Pete Curry, Bryan Head, Stewart Jean and John Palmer (drums); Rob Douglas, Michael Mennell, Brent Harding and Brett Simons (bass); Carl Sonny Leyland (piano); Doug Leibinger (organ). The album was mixed by Brett Simons at The Tin Room in Los Angeles and mastered by John X Volaitis.
