Che Cole brings a new and compelling twist as unique as his name to the music table. Anything but a copycat act, he combines his totally 2005 progressive folk rock style with a sound that reminds you of your favorite 60s and 70s rock bands. A hint of Bob Seeger, Eric Clapton, The Band, Leon Russell and Neil Young add an intriguing layer to his highly marketable image and abundant talents.
The Oklahoma native has been around music most of his young life, logging an impressive 19 years of music interest and experience. Starting with playing open-tuned guitar at three, Che was influenced and encouraged to develop his obvious talents by his family, including his father, a regional folk singer; his mother, who played in a bluegrass band; and his grandparents, who were regional touring gospel singers.
Outside influences like Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young and Woody Guthrie helped form Che’s evocative and engaging style as a performer and songwriter. Performing in the Oklahoma City area by the age of 11, he started writing songs at age 14. By 17, he had formed his first band and later formed the group, Vineyard, which had a strong following and notoriety at area festivals and clubs.
Che moved to Austin in 2004, spending his time there honing his skills by playing the active local music scene. Now the stage is set for launching the next steps in Che’s promising career as a performer and songwriter. Permanently now residing in Nashville, he is already co-writing with some of the music scenes top pop & rock hit makers.
