Son of an architect and a teacher started in music at the age of 5 when one day his mother found him on his father’s piano playing what he called “The TV song” which was really Costa Rica''s National Anthem.
At the age of eight he had already won first place in his category at the Yamaha National Organ Festival in 1979 and again in 1980 with an arrangement of “Star Wars”. Since then his music has taken him to 4 continents of the world, giving him a taste of different cultures and music.
He has been a tenor singer of the “Costa Rica National Symphonic and Lyric Choirs” and also a member of the “Angelus Choir”.
With “Angelus” he participated at the World Peace Festival with Latin artist like Roberto Carlos and Flans, the famous Mexican TV Show “Siempre en Domingo” with Raul Velazco and the OTI contest where he was one of the composers and orchestra director of the song “Todo es para ti” which became one of the 10 best songs of the contest.
He was the composer of the song “Por nuestros niños” for the World Organ Transplant Foundation for Children and the song “Una Esperanza” official song of the 1995 Costa Rica Telethon.
In the advertising world, he has composed and produced more than 700 jingles for radio and TV in Central America, Mexico, The Caribbean and USA and has won several awards for his productions like the First Place on the Marconi Awards 2000 by the Costa Rica National Radio Chamber for a jingle for a local radio station.
He was hired by Yamaha Latin America as a new products demonstrator in Dominican Republic, Colombia (Medellin and Bogota), Panama, Puerto Rico and Cuba (Habana and Varadero)
Then in 2002 he gave his first steps in TV on the first Reality Show ever produced in Costa Rica in the most important TV channel of the country, where as one of the jurors he auditioned more than 2000 singers to form a band. He was also the composer of the show’s main theme and the producer of 3 of the debut CD of the group for Sony Music Central America which he finished producing and mixing in World Beat Productions in Calabasas, California, owned by famous GRAMMY® Award winner KC Porter.
For the show he had also the opportunity to interview famous Latin stars like Juanes, Laura Pausini, KC Porter, Alejandro Lerner and CNN presenter and correspondent Ana Maria Montero.
Hi is a founder and a voting member of the Latin GRAMMY® Awards where he collaborated in developing the membership for Costa Rica and has attended all of the six Latin GRAMMY Awards Shows, a GRAMMY in the Schools event and Person of the Year Dinners for Emilio Estefan Jr., Julio Iglesias, Gilberto Gil, Vicente Fernandez, Carlos Santana and Jose Jose.
As a member of the Traditional GRAMMY® Awards he has also attended the 41st and 45th GRAMMY Awards and the Person of The Year Dinner Honoring BONO of U2 that was also attended by personalities like President Bill Clinton, Ashley Judd, Michael Bloomberg Major of New York, Robert DeNiro, Salman Rushdie, Beto Cuevas and David Bowie, among others.
Journey is Jorge''s first instrumental CD. A "dream come true" that represents everything that is important for him like his family, friends and values. The first edition of this CD was a joint venture between Universal Music Central America his company Doctor Music and the NEOTROPICA Foundation (https://www.tradebit.com) one of Costa Rica’s more respected and visionary NGOs that contributes to preserve the Natural Resources of the country or what Costa Ricans call “OUR GREEN GOLD”.
One of the most special moments for this CD came in 2004 where the President or Costa Rica invited Jorge to perform live this music for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
