Jodie has been writing and performing her own music since she was 17. Growing up on the South Coast of NSW and moving to Sydney in 1988, she has never stopped writing, playing and finding inspiration from broken hearts and promises â both her own and other peoples! Even a brief flirtation as a television presenter (that lasted more than ten years!) never saw Jodie lose sight of her goal to write music that spoke to people.
A prolific songwriter, whose influences include the likes of Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams, Joni Mitchell and Ani diFranco, Jodie has always appreciated the story-telling aspects of music and the ability to paint a picture with just a few words. Her first “single” Winter Grows Colder was written and recorded to raise money for the Thredbo Family Relief Fund after the tragic 1997 landslide. It achieved this, but more importantly it was embraced by the people of Thredbo as an anthem of the time, and many have told her how it not only helped them through a difficult period then, but continues to do so.
“Screaming with the Wait” encompasses the last ten years of Jodie''s writing and development as a musician. Produced by Brendan O''Brien at Espresso Digital Audio in Sydney over a 12 month period, this 10 track album is Jodie''s first. With drummer David Kelly & guitarist Dean Cochran from 30 Odd Foot of Grunts along with noted vocalists Lisa Hill and Suzy Goodwin, Brendan put his heart and soul into the recoding of this album, playing many instruments himself in order to get just what he was looking for.
Having performed both covers and her originals as a soloist for the last 15 years, Jodie is a confident and approachable live performer and thrives on the interaction between audience and artist. Supporting such acts as Weddings Parties Anything and the Dead Ringer Band over the years, she has developed her own style that is both warm and unassuming, while retaining the strength and honesty of her lyrics in her performance.
Currently performing on the growing Singer/Songwriter circuit in Sydney as a soloist, Jodie will soon be showcasing her album with her band.
