Details:
Jordan Elliot Spivack is a composer/lyricist who lives in Nanuet (Rockland County), NY, where he is a full time private piano, theory and composition teacher. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Jordan started piano lessons at 5 years old after his parents discovered that he had the gift of music composition. At 10 years old he studied piano and music theory at Cornell University. He was a member of the rock band The Creation while in high school in Cortland, NY. After receiving a BM degree from Ithaca College, he went on to receive his MM in composition, theory and piano from Indiana University. Since then he has written numerous pop songs, classical and jazz compositions, 2 musicals for children, the opera "A Better Way", with libretto by Joseph P. Lanzone, and is the composer/lyricist of The Red Ribbon Theme Song, “Hands Across The Universe”, which has been learned and performed by over 15,000 students K–12 in New York State in the past 11 years. Jordan’s other original solo instrumental CDs include “Shimmer”, “World Trade Center Suite”, “Symmetry”, and “Pictures Of Me”.

"My Provincetown" is a collection of 10 of Jordan E. Spivack''s instrumental compositions. Each piece presents a musical mood painting of the composer''s vivid memories of his many visits to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The entire CD is written, performed, arranged, and produced by Mr. Spivack. In the composer''s own words: "Provincetown, a small village on the tip of Cape Cod, off the coast of Massachusetts, is one of my favorite places on earth. During many summer vacations in P-Town, I have come to love the natural beauty of the beaches, dunes, and surrounding bodies of water. The busy downtown district, bursting with terrific little shops and restaurants, the myriad art galleries, and bustling throngs of people of all types, is a site to behold. And above it all is the towering Pilgrim’s Monument, representing the historical significance of the area. This suite represents my musical impressions of a vacation paradise. If you’ve ever been to P-Town, I hope it brings back lovely memories. If you haven’t yet visited P-Town, I hope it makes you want to go there as soon as possible."

Provincetown Magazine, Vol. 29, Issue #15, July 20 – 26, 2006 - Nicholas Messing, Staff Writer:

“My Provincetown” celebrates [Spivack''s] love of the town...Like postcards from personal landmarks, these tracks evoke a voyage through the shifting scenes of Provincetown. “Café Blasé” is full of unpredictable energy much like the former restaurant, and “Pilgrim’s Monument” is marked by majestic horns. Swirling and uplifting piano melodies enliven “Commercial Street”, which effectively evokes a walk through town in the high season. “Atlantic House” stands out from its relaxed neighbors by adopting a bouncy dance beat, which dissipates in a reflective moment and then returns in full force.

"The other side of the sonic spectrum is explored in “Christmas Around The Cape”, which stirs up a quieter, quainter but no less heartfelt winter season on beautiful Cape Cod. “Portuguese Bakery” honors one of our most delicious institutions with brisk, lively chords, while “Sunset at Herring Cove” is so easygoing you can almost feel the sand beneath your feet. The closing number, “Dunes”, feels like a revealing journey into the past and present of the sandy realms that seem to envelop Provincetown in mystery. All these tracks are imbued with personal meaning as they translate the feelings of Provincetown into fresh and inspired electronic soundscapes.”
