In 1969, James Bell, lead vocalist of the Highlighters Band, wrote and recorded “The Funky 16 Corners“. It quickly claimed the #1 spot and started a new dance craze. In 2001 it was released again by two record labels and claimed the #1 spot on the world “FUNK” charts for 18 weeks.
