MP3 Jake Williams - Blue Head; Blue Heart

Indie, singer songwriter, folk-roots-rock, typical/atypical, with some flamenco and ambient sounds and add a tiny dash of Tom Waits an octave higher. At least that is what someone told me once.

12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Roots Rock, FOLK: Folk Blues

Details:
Originally from Denton Texas, Jake Williams began a formal music education at the University of North Texas where he earned a music degree in Classical Guitar Performance. Aside from the classical bit, Jake had a heavy interest in local Americana/Rock music which eventually led to some of the usual in and out of local bands history. In 1997 Jake joined up with singer-songwriter Chris Flemmons to play in his band Poor Bastard Sons (now Sub-pop artists Baptist Generals). While making the rounds in the local clubs in Denton with the Generals, Jake teamed up with his college roommate Michael Hill (former Slobberbone guitarist) to help out his band 12Lb. Test. Eventually 12Lb. Test’s first CD “Harms Way” was picked up and released by the Internet outfit Miles of Music. After a departure from the Baptist Generals and a few recordings with 12lb. Test, Jake turned his attention to writing and thus produced his first solo recording Blue Head; Blue Heart. With the help of drummer Steve Hill of the Baptist Generals and Aric Isaacs of the Denton band Porn Cob Combo on bass, Jake recorded the 12 song CD at SonicDropper studios in Dallas, TX with producer/engineer Jim King. Recently, Jake has moved to Seattle Washington where he continues to write and play guitar.
The new Independent release by Jake Williams entitled Blue Head; Blue Heart is a 12 song indie-type recording that has an overall theme of love and death. The idea was to create an album that had some sense of unity with the subject matter, while the music borders along the typical and atypical with a sonic edginess. With a twist here and there of the vernacular and a lot of influence by Americana, acoustic front porch, Flamenco, Rock and a little dash of Tom Waits, Blue Head; Blue Heart strives for (hopefully) artful, not mainstream music that is a bit rough around the edges.

“…an album that you will be strangely drawn to time and again, it has that sort of ambiguous nature which will mystify and call to you, so you can explore the interwoven musical and lyrical themes until you feel happy that you’ve taken from it what you can.”
