Jay Dunphy and The Religion have been entertaining audiences in Victoria, Canada with their original blend of folk, rock and country for nearly four years. Often compared to The Rolling Stones, The Band, Steve Earle and even Bob Dylan, their music fuses elements of roots and Americana with a contemporary sound.
Their sophomore album, “If Winning is Inevitable… What’s the Point in Playing?”, sees Jay Dunphy and the band taking on a more rock-oriented sound then their debut, “Season of the Deadened”. Released in the fall of 2005, the album spent two weeks in the top 30 of local college radio station CFUV, and made their list of most played local albums for 2005. Watch for their cross-Canada tour in April, and a new album later this year.
