MP3 Jay Dunphy and the Religion - Season of the Deadened

"...gutbucket rock and roll with an alt-country twang and folksy leanings... a full 12-pack of hurtin'' songs played with a ramshackle charm and a reckless, though clearly skilled verve." --Robert Wiersema, Monday Magazine

13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, COUNTRY: Country Rock

Details:
Formed in late 2003 from the ashes of the now-defunct Moonshine Revellers, Jay Dunphy and the Religion featured Jay on guitar and vocals, Matt Bigelow on drums, and Ryan Steele on bass. In April of 2004, the band went into the studio with Tolan McNeil to record their debut album, “Season Of The Deadened”.

Two months later, Jay dissolved the band and swore off making music forever. The album they had only just completed seemed destined for perpetual obscurity.

Fortunately, Jay had a change of heart. The album was released to rave reviews in the fall of 2004. Reforming with a new lineup in 2005, Jay Dunphy went on to release a second album, “If Winning is Inevitable… What’s the Point in Playing?” in the fall.
