MP3 Just Orange - This is Just Orange

Part shoegazer, part intell-pop...Ranges from ambient guitar to sardonic disco.

14 MP3 Songs
POP: British Pop, ROCK: Modern Rock

Details:
Part Shoegazer/ Part Intellipop...Just Orange plays passionate dreamy music with a witty, sardonic edge. The atmospheric guitar playing and singing of Jonathan Miller is reminiscent of Robin Guthrie or Robert Smith...The dryer songs that of Elvis Costello, XTC or Bowie...

This is Just Orange is the result of recording during a very hot and humid Ohio summer in 2000, before Jonathan Miller moved from Columbus, Ohio to LA to pursue a career in film music. See more info at https://www.tradebit.com

Just Orange
This is a Just Orange CD

Dream rock hasn''t left Columbus, though maybe it''s been napping. But that olden muse has been been awakened by local trio Just Orange. Producer/songwriter guy Jonathan Miller, along with Canaan Faulkner and George Edmisten, spread ethereal paint in thick brushstrokes on their debut release.

Songs like the moody opener Moons Dreaming and Leave This Alone are soaked with delay-heavy,gossamer guitar and step cautiously along, leaving the tunes time to find focus and develop fully. On Moons Dreaming the whole process takes six-and-a-half minutes.

By the mood he sets, one could speculate that Miller was raised on Cocteau Twins or Lush. The album is heavily produced, relying heavily on guitar processing for its overall effect. But several songs,Glitterati and Proliferate for example offer a more grounded, energetic sound. The rhythm here becomes more buoyant, and the guitar more percussive. This sound stands out strikingly against the otherwise placid, serene album. The songs do not suffer by this duality, and though the band doesn''t quite sew unity between the two distinctive sounds, that minor blemish can certainly be overlooked for the sake of the album''s quality.

Just Orange sneaks into your system at your most vulnerable point, just before rapid eye movement, with its pretty pop melodies.
