About Just William:
Just William was born out of a mutual desire to do one thing... make the best music we are capable of and do so without compromising who we are.
In this day and age, people long to classify bands into specific genres and radio formats. You’ll often read of bands being upset over being called “Christian” or pop... Just William on the other hand embraces this and simply says “we are who we are.”
“If a person hears a message in one of our songs and decides to call us a Christian band, then so be it. If the next person hears us as a pop-rock band... that is ok too,” says Jim Coates (one of the band’s guitarists/singers). “We are who we are. There is certainly a message portrayed in some of our music... because it comes from the heart of who we are as individuals. We make no apologies for being passionate people and hopefully some of that passion comes through not only in our lyrics, but in the way we perform as well. We consider ourselves equally at home before Christian and secular audiences and hope that we have something valuable to say to both. At the end of the night it all comes down to being real... people can sense that and it ought to be what we are all about.”
With that in mind, Just William entered into the world of radio in 2005. “Rosalie”, the band’s debut single, managed to stay in the adult contemporary top-40 for 13 weeks... including several weeks at #4 nationally.
The band’s performance on the charts also earned it a “Top 100 Songs of 2005” spot with FMQB magazine.
In 2006, Just William will be back in the studio recording the follow up to their debut CD “Blue Goodbye”.
