Julie core members Nathan Blumenfeld-James, Dustin Bath and Grey Melcher have been writing songs and playing music together since they were 15. In 2005 they recruited drummer Nissim Ahron to craft the sound of Julie. The result of this collaboration is “Catch a Feeling”, an energetic and musically ambitious album.
“Silly Strings”, the first single from the album, defines the bands direction melding hard driving rhythms, haunting melodies, humor and melodic pop hooks. And reflecting on their personal lives, Julie goes deep with significant lyrical fare on “Not Me Not Mine”. The rich harmonies and invasive guitar hooks on “Surrender” showcase Julie’s signature sound and infectious grooves whirl your head and your feet on “Spicy Face”, “This Town” and “Encoded Fire”.
Intertwining greasy bass lines with forceful percussion and evocative lyrics, “Catch a Feeling” explores fresh musical and emotional territory introducing audiences to an authentic and explosive new sound.
