Starting that first career can be an exhilerating yet intimidating experience for anyone. However, young African-American women can encounter an even greater adjustment in today''s environment where only a small percentage of private sector managers are African-American females. Setting realistic expectations of what young women will face in their first work experience typically comes through exposure to other career women. Unfortunately, this exposure is all too often unavailable in the African-American community.

To Our Little Sisters With Love is a refreshing approach to career preparation for young African-American women entering the workforce. The dialogue speaks to issues that are far too often unspoken elements that young African-American women need to start a career path of success. The book explores essential stages of the career process such as expectations on the first day, getting the first perfomance review, reading the unwritten rules and many others. The discussion is tailored to the young African-American woman starting her first job from high school, college, trade school or any education and training institution.
