Melvin Dunlap (Watt Alectrik) is a native of Ohio with musical beginnings as a back-up musician in Cleveland. He toured with the O''Jays and played the LA club scene, becoming the bassist with Bill Cobsy''s group "The Watts 103nd Street Rhythm Band" ("Spreading Honey," "Loveland," "Express Yourself"). He has also co-produced several albums with Bill Withers. Some of his most creative bass lines can be heard on songs including "Lean On Me," "Use Me," and "Who Is He." Melvin has had the pleasure of working with a list of top producers and musicians including Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Paul Jackson, Jr., Gladys Knight, The Temptations, The Four Tops, John Hammond Jr. and many more... According to Dunlap, "My original music visulaization took shape after years of bringing my bass sound to the table for recording artists, stage performers, producers arrangers and my fellow musicians. The visualization took form and frequented my creative music spirit, resulting in music I call "Holistic Funk." The vehicle for presenting this spirit is Watt Alectrik. In Watt Alectrik''s first album I provided a visionary musical experience that moves the spirit and creates a musical vision of soulful elegance." His gift of music, coupled with his history of inspired musical experiences has culminated in new original work.
