Michael Tushaus, a.k.a. "Tus," embarks on a new album with prolific force. This double album introduces an array of styles that fall in the realm of Symphonic/Electronic music. Each track pulls from a colorful palette of sounds including strings, brass, drum kits, synthesizers, and effects. Though many pieces are aimed for use in film and television, every piece can stand on its own, and can score anything from a workout at the gym to meditation and yoga at home, and even to live theatrical productions.
"Symphony Cake - Volume 1" focuses more on the electronic. Tus brings a unique flair by combining intricate harmonies, interesting chord progressions, fugue-like counterpoint, and unlikely combinations of traditional and non-traditional instruments. He also has a keen ear for melody, and is not afraid to use it. These songs are not the humdrum drone of meandering notes, rather, they are programmatic works that tell a story, and provide a high-energy and sublime soundtrack to Hollywood and to everyday life. "Bending the Limits" is a great example of Tus’s use of massive orchestration, and the rhythmic combination of gated synths, horn flares, and syncopated strings and percussion.

The album was named Symphony Cake, one for its play on words of course, but two for the idea of such a cake. It is made from fine materials, and demands many hours to craft a beautiful and intricate work that has several layers, colors, and flavors. Much like a Symphony Cake, this album will allow the listener to taste each and every piece and come away from the experience with their bellies fuller.
