Details:
"Personal" is composer-bassist Mikko Pellinen''s first album as a leader. His ensemble, the Mini Big Band, features seven top young Finnish jazz musicians and the composer himself playing the double bass. Consisting of four horn players and a rhythm section, the group can achieve a sound similar to the big band but is also elastic enough to create intimate small group interaction.

As the name of the album predicts, the compositions on the record are highly original and interesting. They challenge the listener with extended forms and rich harmonic palette. At the same time the music is full of beautiful melodies and strong grooves. The ensemble creates a wide variety of sounds, ranging from lyrical moods to forceful group energy and the music offers a rich platform for the improvisational stylings of its strong soloists. Above all, unexplainable melancholy "Nordic" sound is evident throughout the record.

Record has a strong impact on the listener and the stunning musicians are interpreting Pellinen’s musical vision awesomely with their own personal voices. "Personal" is an unique album!
