Details:
Ron is a multi-instrumentalist who plays acoustic guitar, Irish whistle and mandolin on this album of songs and tunes in the Australian folk tradition.

The CD has traditional tunes such as the lilting Irish "Si Beg Si Mohr" and the unofficial Australian anthem "Waltzing Matilda.
There are songs of transportation, drovers and whale-men of Australia''s past as well as original songs of the beauty of the Northern Territory, the problems of prospecting for gems in Queensland and life for some in outback Alice Springs.

All songs are brought to life by Ron''s fingerstyle acoustic instrumentation and authentic singing.

Ron was born in Sydney and spent a lot of his late teenage years and early 20s playing in bands in pubs, clubs and coffee houses. He was bass player for the “house band” for the ABC folk music television program “Sit Yourself Down” hosted by Marian Henderson in the early 1970s. He performed with the folk performers Al Ward, Dan Johnson, John Currie and Mick Green in the folk clubs around Sydney. He also performed with the “John Currie Folk Revue” performing at many venues including the Sydney Opera House and releasing an album of folk songs entitled “400 Years” .

During this time he performed in support bands for touring artists including “Steeleye Span”, “The Dubliners”, “Buffy Saint Marie”, “Fairport Convention” and “Roy Orbison”. He performed with the blues / R&B group “Don Hopkins R&B 4” led by the brilliant New Orleans style pianist Don Hopkins in clubs and pubs around Sydney

In 1978 he moved to Goulburn and joined local folk group “The Poddy Dodgers” and over the following years performed with Peter McLaren in the folk duo “Two Up” and performed with the bush band “Shanty” which became the regular weekly house band at Wilton Winery for a number of years.

Either solo or as a band member Ron has traveled Australia performing at many different venues and festivals including
