Details:
World Jazz is not a new concept, but a live solo performance on an electronic keyboard that has all the scope of a 7-10 piece band is pretty rare: along with that an intuitive use of the instruments from various parts of the world. Some cuts consist of the usual electric jazz format: Fretless Bass, Drum Kit, Percussion, Rhodes Piano and Vibraphone plus effects generated live, while other cuts are hybrid combinations like a Miles Davis-like muted horn with bass and tablas, or a flute with haunting synth pads. Other combinations have a minimalist electronic kit with a Chinese/Japanese Shanai, or an accordion with a martial snare drum. All stops are pulled out on Postmodern, an apocalyptic space explosion, while Harpin'' On It dances lightly with a Berimbau groove. Harmonic Convergence is a large concept and this music helps to get in the spirit of that big, wide universe.
