Super is a multi-faceted singer and entertainer. As a jazz singer, song writer, actress and teacher, Super brings her years of experience to the stage. It is this blend of musicianship and performance that sets her apart from her contemporaries. Hailing from Montreal, Super now calls Vancouver her home and spins melodies that are rooted deeply in her experiences of these cities. Super''s soulful style combines a masterful blend of jazz, Latin and blues. The result? A sound reminiscent of yesteryear yet compellingly new and original. With her international debut at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, this budding new talent has already taken the West Coast jazz scene by storm.
It isn’t surprising that Super comes to the music honestly. As a young performer, she was exposed to the great American songbook through her early career in musical theatre. She later went on to pursue a degree in theatre while working as a singer/songwriter in Montreal. As a member of the Vancouver sensation “The Marmaladies”, she returned to the harmonic sounds of her youth and the jazz phenom was born. Although on the scene for but a short while, Super has already had the pleasure of studying with legends Nancy King and Kate Hammett-Vaughn as well as new generation jazz superstars Sara Gazarek, Sachal Vasandani and Gretchen Parlato. She has shared the stage with world renowned trumpeter John Korsrud, pianists Michael Creber, Eric Verlinde and Dawn Clement and bassist Nedra Wheeler.
