The signature song and mega hit ‘Long Look We Come From’ pays homage to Long Look the oldest African Caribbean Community, the first community of emancipated African slaves in the western hemisphere. With mega hits ‘Praise Jah’ , ‘Revolution; The Change Within’, ’U Snooze U Lose’, ‘Long Look Rock’, ‘The Stillness of the Night’, and ‘Peace Song’; this album is a must have conscious sound of the Virgin Islands collectors’ item.
Washasha X bassist and keyboardist for the VI based Out of the Desert Reggae Band joins forces with Ras Rio the Out of the Desert guitarist as the primary musicians on most of the tracks on this album, establishing the sweet, smooth, strong , pulsating, conscious sound that is uniquely Washasha’s. They are joined by long time Out of the Desert drummer Maccabe on the ‘Long Look We Come From’ and ‘Peace Song’ tracks. Two young third generation musicians are also introduced and featured on the album; Beat Master and Out of the Desert drummer King Marro is featured on the ‘Revolution; The Change Within’ and ‘The Stillness of the Night’ tracks; and Beat Master, Singer, Songwriter Brass is featured on the ‘U Snooze U Lose’, ‘Put Jah First’ and ‘The Stillness of the Night’ tracks.
In his own words this is Washasha X vibes on his album Revolution; The Change Within; “Give thanks and praise to the Most High, for life and health and strength, and for every good thing. We are living in challenging times today, and it can be easy to become overwhelmed and depressed as we face our daily struggles. It is important that we maintain an attitude of gratitude and not get caught up in murmuring and complaining. If you want the vibes to change around here, then you better open up your mouth, raise your hands in the air and praise Jah. The change you are looking for starts with you, the real revolution is the change within; then together we can change our world, hand in hand, with the love solution. We done know that war is not the answer and only love can conquer on here. War could never bring an answer; war brings death, pain, sorrow and disaster. We want the Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah on here right now; yes we are calling on the Prince of Peace because we want the everlasting peace. Youth and youth put down your guns, life is precious. Say every boom bam bye, yes another brother or sister die, another buddy bye, bye. So hear me when I tell you say that I seen nough tough guy wid water in dem eye, when dem have to wave to dem brethren say, buddy bye bye. Increase the peace; just brighten the corner where you are. If we read our bible and we pray every day, if we let the Most High guide us, we could never go astray. However be forewarned that if u snooze u lose, you get confused and if you don’t pray it aint nothing but the blues. The best policy is to put Jah first, because if in spirit and in truth we put the ises first we’ll never hunger, we’ll never thirst. Whatever you might be facing it will come to pass. Put your spiritual armor on and stand firm. I would have fainted if I didn’t believe be see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Nothing like a word in due season, remember, Washasha X says never surrender. Be proud of our story as a people of African descent who have overcome many challenges and struggles over the generations. If you share the community roots, stand up strong and let the world know that tis Long Look We Come From, yo hear!; so no bother try tek way fe we freedom. We coming from the bottom going straight to the top, and we’re giving thanks and praise and we’re never gonna stop. Give thanks and praise to the Most High, Abbatachin Hoy, Yahweh El Shaddai for the inspiration, the strength and the guidance to complete this work. “
