This lesson is ideal for more advanced players who are looking to broaden their approach. It has a straight-time, rock-blues feel rather than a more traditional shuffle groove.
Technical challenges include lots of 1, 2, 3, and 4 draw bends, sometimes in rapid and unusual conbinations and some octave jumps (between holes 1 and 4 blow, for example, or 2 draw and 36 blow). No overblows! In order to solo over this groove, players will almost certainly want to develop some facility at rapid-fire 1/16th notes. Gussow not only takes you step by step through the head, all in slo-mo, but he shows you how to alternate sung verses with the fills that he uses in the original recording and he offers some ideas about soloing.
