Memory & Loss ranges from the romantic yearning of "Open Up Your Arms" to the exoticism of "All This Beauty," which combines Middle Eastern samples with slide guitar. It includes "Rebel Song" which is an ode to Joe Strummer, one of JP''s musical inspirations. The sound of longing and loss is fully realized in the CD''s closing track "Season In Hell", an elegiac meditation on love and the passage of time.
