Eddie GM, the eldest of two siblings, showed an interest in music at an early age. He played his first piano notes at the age of 3 1/2 years. At seven, he began Classical studies at the Michigan Conservatory
of Music and later trained with Professor Lagore, retired pianist of The Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
His professional development is largely influenced by Private studies with a number of great Gospel & Jazz musicians.
Over the years, Eddie has played and recorded with a number of legendary groups including
The Original Motown Band (The ‘Funk Bros.’ of Detroit), The David Letterman Band (New York),
James Brown Band and others. As a composer, he wrote hits for Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, The Dramatics, Destiny’s Child. Ed Robinson composed theme music for film and television shows, MTV’s Real People “Road Show” and the ever-popular “Bonanza.” In addition to producing Gold and Platinum albums, he has catalog of approximately 100 songs published with the Universal Music Group. This catalog contains sheet music written by Robinson, published by Paramount Pictures & ABC Television.
Eddie composed recordings by Vanessa Bell Armstrong, James Cleveland, LaShun Pace,
MC Hammer, Tessie Hill, Melba Moore, Dottie Peoples, The Voices of Tabernacle, and The
Thomas Whitfield Company, for example. “He Keeps Doing Great Things For Me,” “Don’t’ Forget to Remember (Where All Your Blessings Come From),” “(Let the life you Live Be A) Reflection of the Man Inside,” and “I’ve Been Touched” are among his greatest Gospel hits.
In California, Eddie began his ministry at the First Baptist Church of North Fontana.
Later, in the downtown district of San Bernadino, he organized a men’s outreach ministry that influenced & changed men’s lives. From this dedicated group of men emerged new deacons, ministers and pastors.
.National and international travels with evangelistic ministries of The Billy Graham Crusade, Dr. E.V. Hill, Campus Crusade For Christ International and ‘Operation Starting Line’ (a nation-wide prison ministry) all contributed greatly towards spiritual and professional growth.
Countries traveled include Japan, Korea, China, Africa, Germany, Turkey, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Thailand &Viet Nam.
After seventeen years of touring abroad, Eddie returned to the U.S.A where he completed his CD, a very
special project titled “The “Elephant Song.” This project reflected years of work and travels throughout Africa. On this CD, Her Excellency, Chief Dr. Uwa Onyioha Osimiri joined Eddie in singing praises to
God in both English and African tribal languages on CD title, “Elephant Song.”
