Shirley Espíndola shows “new face” in unknown álbum
After present herself with MPB, singer shows christian inspiration on the second CD her carrer.

The singer Shirley Espíndola has been showing a new face of her career. After Bossa Romântica (2003) with MPB and bossa nova compositions, Shirley presents Caminho das Águas with christian inspiration. The presentation happened during the event Revolução 2006 organized by Igreja Batista from Morumbi (São Paulo).

The new album, agreed the producer Roberto Gasperini, is going to change the stage of christian brazilian music, because, in spite of it has same christian subject with other artists, the CD Caminho das Águas doesn’t forsake the brazilian rhythm like, for example, afoxé and afro-indígena. “The christian music, nowadays, is known like gospel. Those musics are north-american songs versions or copies. I believe that CD is one of those albums who have only brazilian rhythms like baião, afoxé, samba, bossa nova and a pop”, assure Gasperini.

Caminho das Águas has 10 songs subscribe for composers of christian subject like Miguel Garcia and Edu Martins, Sérgio Pereira and Carlinhos Veiga, Aristeu Pires, Beto Tavares, Tiago Vianna and Jorge Camargo. Besides them, note for three João Alexandre’s compositions, for unknown song Espelho da tua força (Fernando Baeta) it is instrumental and only vocalized and for Patawi preferred for Shirley and chose to be the main song of album.

The CD has the participation of the several musicians and arrangers like Fábio Alves, Fernando Baeta, Felipe Silveira and Luciano Trinquinatto.

Shirley Espíndola declareted this CD, idealized 12 years ago, is an important time in her life and career. “This work is a personal achievement and, too, a thanksgiving for all God has been doing in my life”.
The album Caminho das Águas has the IB Morumbi Production’s stamp. The distribution has been doing for PVC and, in Jundiaí, the release’s show is foreseen for September.

Main song
Shriley Espíndola didn’t think twice in the moment to choose the main music of Caminho das Águas. “In the moment I listened to song Patawi, I was sure that it is going to be the CD’s main music”, assure Shirley.

Patawi, written for Sergio Pereira and Carlinhos Veiga, is the favorite to singer not only because of the indian lyric and the afoxé’s rhythm. The inspiration for Patawi provides of contact on indians people that live in the Amazonas and Pará frontiers (Brazil). The tribe is the guarana cultivation’s inventor. In the tribe’s tradition, the guarana is very important because it has the same function of wine during the celebration of Lord’s Supper.
The Patawi is a support like a chalice and it has the function to receive the guarana in the Sateré Mawé’s celebration. The Patawi symbolizes “the most important indian chief” and he brings unit to the group.

Besides, Shirley chose the song Patawi because the composers Sergio Pereira and Carlinhos Veiga donate the value of copyright to project ATINI (this word in the indian’s language mean voice). The project, coordinate for volunteers Suzuki and Márcia, wants to offer help to indians who need doctor’s help and can’t have it. ATINI works to assure the right to live and cure to natives have some disease or deficiency strange for tribe.
