You are now entering San Jose California.(Just 50 miles away from San Francisco) There''s a lotta Talent in Silicon Valley... a lotta hungry, gifted & starving emcee''s trying to make a name for themselves within the Hip-Hop Culture. There''s a lotta talent in this little town, but there''s also a lot of wannabe''s & fake emcees in San Jose. There are several types of emcee''s trying to make a name for themselves. Too many of them sound the same. There''s a lot of emcees'' that spend countless tracks tryin'' to rep their "hood or city" with cat in the hat lyrics.... Too many emcee''s are tryin'' to claim underground Hip-Hop with their "keep it real lyrics on underground ethics".... many of these emcee''s forget one important aspect in a show- The Crowd! you have to move the crowd to gain a certain amount of respect and their attention for the most part. Luckily there''s Esoin "The Esoteric Being." (Pronounced ES-O-IN... S.O.N. as in "Shine on Nocturnal") San Jose''s Gift to the masses.
What is it that sets him apart from the rest? Lets break down his wordplay, as in his lyrics. One thing that sets him aside from the rest is his wordplay and how he uses his imagination to construct his lyrics. Esoin does not go on stage with lyrics on "complaining about Hip-Hop" and yells out "Keep it real for the streets!" Esoin is a story teller. Stories that range from fierce intergalactic outer space Battles, (similar to analogy''s to an emcee battle) to simply walkin'' the streets of San Jose with his backpack exploring life. Esoin''s lyrics are broken down into various subject matters. Sometimes he''s kickin'' rhymes about his record collection, other times he''s bending time and space or he''s simply zoning out & possessed by the beat. Wordplay and how you use it is a must, especially if you want to move a crowd. Esoin is capable of doing both. His stage presence is charismatic, and at times inspiring to see him work the masses. He''s calm, cool and collective on stage, never having to worry about peeps throwin'' their hands up.
The beats and his vivid imagination is enough to work up the people in a show. Call him San Jose''s Hip-Hop elite, he''s paid his dues. 2002 marked Full Dose Records first Big Release, Esoin''s "Substance & Oblivia." It also marks Esoin''s first "official" Release. Esoin has been putting it down for years. He originally established himself within 2 crews, Daysmen Empire & Constylations and has been slangin'' "Underground tapes" out of his Backpack for as far back as I can remember.
He has also shared the stage with some of Hip-Hops finest acts including Aceyalone, Abstract Rude, Zion-I, KRS-1, Living Legends, Hiero, The Pharcyde & so many more. With things going his direction, 2005 looks to be an even more promising year in his career for this talented emcee. One thing comes to mind when we see Esoin''s presence. Devotion to the culture and his fans. the amount of hard work he puts in for every lyric, every beat down to the manufacturing and designing of his product. He looks out for the people who buy his music and he gives them the very best San Jose has to offer.

Coming from San Jose, CA- Esoin delivers his 1st "Official" debut in the form of "Substance and Oblivia." Esoins been puttin tapes out as far as I can remember- man, they were all dope, and had that sense of underground written all over it...... Substance and oblivia is the cream of the crop, pushing the boundaries of San Jose Hip Hop out to the masses. Beats are provided by Silent John, Style Misia and Esoin Himself. S&O boasts a certain vibe that is melodic and at times just plain dope to anybody in need of a fresh beat. Silent John at times lays the tracks down reminiscent of a young Alchemist or MadLib on the cuts...... Lyrically- Esoin brags and boasts similar to that of a young def jukkie but easier to understand & relate to- his flows are consistent and devastating! His subject matters range from intergalactic battles, to chillin with the fam to just plain gettin by in life and its struggles..... Overall, S&O is an understatment to San Jose and its future of how Hip-Hop is produced over there...... This guy is so underated he deserves his props already! Can''t wait for the second Album!
