This talented group featuring Kaija Bonde (Always…Patsy Cline), Boyd Bristow (Acoustic Christmas), Brian Bonde (The Cardigans), with Al Slaathaug on string bass, intertwines good "old-timey" music with homespun humor, and an occasional special guest.

Over a century ago, the Westre Clan claimed a little spot on Frog Creek Road. The Clay County, South Dakota crossroads, where the remains of Westreville now lie, stand as a symbol for what we will always sing about: family, love, God and faith. It’s about the people who have gone before, people from small towns and farms, people like our parents and grandparents. We try to hold on to the old ways, and those people, as much as possible. We can never go back, but we can sing about it. What started as one song in church in 2001 has since turned into a whole collection of songs, gigs and towns too numerous to count. . . “That’s why we came.”

Kaija Bonde, Sioux Falls, had a 9 year run starring in the acclaimed touring musical "Always… Patsy Cline." In addition to EOW, Kaija also performs with the Gene McGowan Jazz Trio in "Of Thee I Swing." She has also released two other CD’s.

Boyd Bristow, Sioux Falls, is one of the regular members of the Acoustic Christmas cast, musical director for Always… Patsy Cline, and leader of the Entry Band at Asbury United Methodist Church. Boyd was also a member of Blue Berry Buckle and The Red Willow Band. He is a counselor for Catholic Family Services and runs his own recording studio. His new CD is available tonight. Boyd lives in Sioux Falls with his wife, Rev. Dar Berkenpas.

Brian Bonde, Sioux Falls, is a Flandreau, SD native. A well known regional performer, he has spent the last few years as director and producer of Always… Patsy Cline. Brian and Kaija founded the Comfort Theatre Company in 1997. He is the president of the Children’s Care Hospital & School Foundation.

Al Slaathaug, Lennox, is a Fort Pierre native. He began playing bass backing up Terry Ree for post game dances at Riggs High in Pierre. He has played in local bands including, Blue Berry Buckle and The Secret Band. He is a computer programmer at Citibank and farms in the Lennox area.

If you loved the music of O Brother Where Art Thou, then East of Westreville is for you!

It''s an ever-changing mix of music and memories, reminiscent of the days when all that was needed for entertainment was a Philco radio and a comfy chair.
