PDG is an electric drum-bass-piano/keyboard instrumental trio of weird jazz-fusion having a progressive rock approach. Coming from Montreal, Canada, the band writes and plays music for music, always interested in touching different music styles and experimenting with their instruments.
The band was born on March 2006 and has one record out. The first opus, Less Is More / Trop c’comme pas assez, was released on december 1st, 2006. They are independent from the music industry since they do everything on their own. The band distributes their album themselves over the web in order to get their music heard by people who will appreciate it.
Less Is More… is often described as music for twisted animation movies. Containing many changes, it is sometimes dark and ambiant, other times joyful and humorous. Full of melodies and intricate rhythms, this progressive music contains a mix of funk, latin, jazz, dubb, hip-hop… and is for open-minded people!
The drummer/percussionist plays with acoustic and electronic drums mixed with various latin percussions. He incorporates afro-cubain rhythms as well as polyrhythms with its prog-metal style.
Bass player Big Bass Pat uses 4, 5 and 6 strings electric bass guitars. He gives the hip-hop and funky sound of the trio, keeping the rock attitude in its playing. A real groover with a great sense of melody. He''s got his own album out on cdbaby under the name Big bass Pat, B-4 Vol.2.
The keyboard player makes use of different weird and deep keyboard sounds as well as giving the grand piano an important place in the sound of the band. She has a classical approach, also making use of latin influences mixed with a more rock background.
