Flipping a Fender Stratocaster upside-down, singer/songwriter/lefty guitarist Malina Moye has already worked with such multi-platinum Grammy-Award-winning artists as Prince, The Sounds of Blackness, Kelis and R. Kelly to name a few. Last year, Moye was nominated for Los Angeles Music Award’s “Best R&B Artist of the Year” and winner of “Best R&B Video of the Year.” An Alicia Keys with an electric guitar, Moye is the first African American left-handed female guitarist to be sponsored by Fender Guitars, joining the ranks of Eric Clapton and John Mayer.
Moye’s WCE Records released her first R&B single “Girlfriend” in 2003 to great reviews and followed-up in 2004 with her second single “Alone” which entered the Billboard Hip Hop/R&B Top 100 Singles at number 11 and stayed on the charts for 32 consecutive weeks.
Born into an acclaimed musical family, Moye has been singing, playing guitar, and songwriting since she was 9-years-old. At the age of 12, she hit the stage and began performing professionally as the lead singer in the accomplished family R&B group Les Moye Ice. With Malina in front of the band, the group went on to play over 1,000 club dates throughout the world.
Her debut LP “Malina Moye” will be released in early 2007.
