Biography

Raul David Lugo was born the 26th of February in 1978 in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe in Argentina. He grew up in the city of Perez where he had his first encounter with music. He began his career as a singer together with his brother Walter Lugo at the early age of 8, accompanying his father (Pedro Lugo) in evangelistic crusades. At this same time, he also started as a saxophonist playing in his school band. In 1992, he joined the praise and worship team of Sanctuary of Faith, pastored by Norberto Carlini, where he served in ministry for nearly a decade. At the age of 16, he wrote his first song entitled “Jesus”, and from that beginning David has not quit writing songs that exalt the name of our Lord Jesus. Since 2002, he has been living with his wife in the city of Port St. Lucie, Florida in the USA and together they are members of Grace Family Church. From his first musical release in 1997, God has used this consecrated and talented young man in a great way, taking him to many parts of the world preaching the message of Jesus Christ through song and saxophone and bringing a word full of life and hope for all people. Today we present his most recent production “The Fifth Floor” - a project available in English and Spanish - which challenges one to live a life passionately for our Savior and King Jesus. Earlier projects such as; “Generacion Relevo” released in 1997 For concerts and booking information, contact:

Interview with David Lugo

Why the name “the Fifth Floor”?
Because when we went to Spain in December of 2005, we stayed in an apartment on the fifth floor. And about 9 months prior to going, I had asked the Lord to give me a song for Spain. When we arrived, it was the middle of the night and we couldn’t see anything, but when we woke up the next day and looked out the window the view was breathtaking. On one side you could see the Mediterranean Sea and on the other, beautiful mountains. I was inspired and it was there that God gave me the song for Spain which I named “the Fifth Floor”. He gave me a vision that Spain was to be a trampoline for the gospel for all of Europe and I felt that I was to do a praise and worship CD and dedicate it to Spain. In fact, during the three weeks we were there, God gave me over twenty songs and many of which are on the CD.

What are your goals with this CD?
This CD is praise and worship so my goal is that those that hear it would have an experience and encounter with God like never before. That the simple songs that are sung flow from hearts around the world and draw people closer to their Lord and Savior.

You mention the world, where are you taking this project?
We hope to take it all around the planet. We are starting the world tour 2006 in Florida in the USA beginning the first two weeks in June. Then we’re heading out for Spain and as God opens doors, the rest of Europe. We come back at the end of August and we tour more of the United States in New York, possibly Texas and Oklahoma. Then we take off for Central America with Venezuela and finish the tour in Argentina at the end of the year.

How did you come to take the decision to do this ministry full time?
Well this starts about four years ago when I met my wife, Jackie. I was in the height of my ministry career at that time but when we decided to get married God asked me to lay it down. It was like my Isaac. And the following years became like a desert for me where God was working on my character and shaping the man inside of me. I was humbled from working on roofs, in tree and lawn services, car details, waiting tables, selling clothing, and finally working as a receptionist in a Doctor’s office. Then when we were in Spain, God spoke straight to my heart to get ready because it was time to come back and work for Him. So my wife and I took a step of faith with starting this Fifth Floor project and God started opening doors for ministry. Following His vision, provision and blessings have been following us! We are so grateful to God and look forward to this opportunity to serve His people and His great cause across the earth.

What are your plans for 2007, after the tour ends?
As soon as we end this tour we are going to find a place to live wherever God shows us and start all over again (probably between Europe, the US and South America). We are depending on the Lord to establish our ministry which we believe includes traveling but always returning to our home base.

Who is your spiritual covering in the ministry?
Because we are bi-lingual and our geographic origin spans two continents, we have two churches we call home and are faithful to. Our Spanish covering is in Rosario, Argentina with Pastor Norberto Carlini of Santuario de Fe and our English covering is in Port St. Lucie, Florida with Pastors Jeff & Violet Steffel of Grace Family Church.
