Maya Levy was born and raised in New York City. She currently lives in London, England, where she was first encouraged to combine her music, singing and theatrical prowess with song writing, eventually leading to her debut album, Historically Inaccurate, which was produced by the talented Englishman Nick Trepka.
When she was younger but looked exactly the same, Maya was a classical pianist and singer, who honed her craft at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. During this time, she used to sneak off to sing folk music and star in musicals when her professors weren’t looking. Then, when she was a bit older, and still looked exactly the same, she was an actress, who studied at Central School of Speech and Drama. She still looks exactly the same, and tries to do all of these things, often at the same time. In fact, she does all these things, all at once in her own one-woman musical mystery, Troiseaux, which features ‘The Cuckoo’ and ‘The Hummingbird’, both found on this album.
About this album: some of the songs on it are funny. Funny-haha, not funny-peculiar, though you might find them funny-peculiar. Some of them are melancholy (there''s only one kind of melancholy, so no confusion there). Most of them tell some kind of true story, while one refers to mythical beasts that do not have love affairs. It is, for all intents and purposes, an Historically Inaccurate but accurately excellent album of songs.
