OHM Live as a band is the brainchild of Soumajit Ghosh, Aditya Shankar and Chirantan Banerjee, who later joined to form a trio. The trio within OHM Live engages in not only exploring fusion, electronic, trance music and instrumentals but also travel to places recording Natural sounds of earthly elements and then synthesizing them to create newer frequencies. Soumajit being the Sound Designer/Arranger/Music Synthesis along with Chirantan the Vocalist/Composer and Aditya the Composer/ Guitarist and Effects Man cohesively work along with each other to compose music for freelance artists, arrange for freelance vocalists, score for movies & documentaries and also responsible for music direction. This is the trio’s first debut Hindi music album globally, featuring vocalist Malini Banerjee from the USA. Mahima Creations Inc. brought this amazing album from concept through production and final distribution, thus materializing their vision to launch new talents by working on joint projects between USA and India.
Malini Banerjee always had a love for music as far back as she can remember. Like mostly all Bengali families she received training in Indian classical music when she was in school, which later was overtaken by academic priorities. She represented her college in both zonal and national youth festivals for Indian classical and western songs for three consecutive years. She passed through the rigorous audition process for Zee TV’s Close-Up Antakshari and represented her College at the Inter-Collegiate competition in 1997 and became a semifinalist. She got a fresh start to showcase her talent in the San Francisco Bay-Area after she relocated from Europe in 2004, when she again got a platform to show her singing talent at NRI Antakshari. Most recently she also won the Jai Ho Idol Contest in 2010 in San Francisco Bay Area. Apart from showcasing her singing talent, she is a regular participant in local fashion shows. Malini is also one of the few models for designer Sabyasachi in North America, being associated with Pia Ka Ghar. Most recently she also recorded for San Francisco 49ers for their advertisement on television. In addition to pursuing her passion in music and fashion, she is also a business woman and a teacher. She came in contact with Soumajit, Chirantan and Aditya through acquaintances and immediately understood their talent and decided to work together and be part of OHM Live.
Ever since childhood, Soumajit had an obsession towards music & was more inclined to Indian classical music. Raised in a family where "music" is being pronounced every moment, choosing music as a profession was his sole focus right from the start.. Besides working currently as a Technology Consultant in IT industry, Soumajit''s brilliant application of Powerful Synth Engines, Virtual Synthesizers and Compositional Skills are what makes him stand out from the rest. His ability to design sounds and circuitry is truly remarkable; Soumajit started learning North Indian Classical Music (Vocal, Varanasi Gharana) since the tender age of 3 under the tutelage of https://www.tradebit.comriyo Chatterjee, a disciple of Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty. He won the "Best Classical Vocalist Award" in West Bengal in the year 1988 and at the age of 13 he got a scholarship from a NGO foundation in Norway to learn music. He has recently started taking lessons on Controllerism from Matt Moldover(USA). Having completed a diploma course in Sound Synthesis & Engineering from Pune, India, he has developed his unique style & technique of programming sounds & arranging music. He has worked on several DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) like Cubase, Nuendo, Reason, FL Studio & gradually over the period of time, got his hands on them. Presently he works on different Standalone Sound Design modules like Reaktor, also plugins from Spectrasonics, reFX, Symphonic Orchestra, Choirs, Ivory and plenty of other more. He is obsessed about drawing circuitry & playing with frequencies, within Reaktor, and create his own Synthesizers & Waveforms (sounds). His past performances include Indian classical music (Vocal) performances across West Bengal. Lounge sessions at Ten Downing Street (Pune), Aqua Lounge (Pune) and several other places around Maharashtra.
Aditya is currently working as a freelance musician. He is also pursuing his Masters in Computer Application in academics. He has released a single in Bengali under HMV called ''Ishara'' and ''Kolikale which is yet to be released. He won the best guitarist award in KBL war of the rockstars.
Aditya, Previously worked with a lot of musicians worldwide and performed nationally and internationally in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and UK.
Chirantan was inclined to Indian classical music right from his childhood and also harbored the urge of learning different forms of music from then only. Born in a family where the word “music” is being uttered every alternate moment, choosing music as his profession was just a matter of time. He is still taking lessons from his guruji PT. Mohanlal Mishra ji ( from Benaras Gharana ) and his able son Deepak Mishraji and will continue to do since the journey of music is a never ending quest. He did a duet Playback in “EI PRITHIBI TOMAR AMAR “ ( Bengali movie ) music composed by Indradeep ( Chirodeep ) Dasgupta. He also released his solo Bengali album “Mon Duburi Mon” (from Atlantis music),which is running successfully in Red, Big, Friends and Aamar FM in Kolkata, India and also FM stations in North Bengal. He has also given his voice to two songs in a recently released Devotional album from JMD known as “Maa go Tara Shundori” where the co-artists are of the likes of Sreeradha Bandhopadhayay, Sampa Kundu, Archan Chakraborty etc He recently received the KALA RATNA Award from Bangla Challachitra Prachar Samiti in the year 2010. Previously, he was among the top 10 finalists of Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (Bishwashera) in the year 2008. Runner’s up in Pantaloons Rocking Singer organized by Pantaloons in the year 2008. Winner of Vibes Musicasm organized by Statesman in the year 2002, where a solo participant had to sing his/her own composition in the competition. He has also performed in a lot of TV shows in Akash Bangla , Zee bangle etc.
