Nestled in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire, the New Englanders are a coffeehouse friendly country/folk band from Southern New Hampshire. Crafting upbeat tunes with emotional, personal and satirical lyrics, the band is a crowd pleaser throughout the many New England music festivals and county fairs. Almost bluegrass, almost country, almost never rock, but always acoustic, the band has found a niche that seems very recognizable and personal but not the same old boring country/folk music of the past. Lead singer, Joan Zaccone, has a kindness in her voice that transcends traditional country and carries the listener back home wherever they may be in the humorous tune, ALWAYS ON MY MIND written by husband/singer/songwriter, Jay Zaccone. A high school teacher by day, Zaccone scripts lyrics out of the heroes of the past and the issues of the present as expressed in LOST TEARS, the moving lamentation about the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Gathering their inspiration from an eclectic group of songwriters such as Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Hank Williams and the Grateful dead, the band is working toward opening the doors of main stream country music to the creative side of folk and bluegrass.
