E.T.‘s debut solo release “pHone Home” is a story of one man’s epic journey to fatherhood. Dodging vulture debt collectors, battling relationship woes and confronting the calling of forgotten heritage, E.T. shows his many sides as he pHones Home to his roots. After spending 5 years as the lead emcee, producer and frontman of The pHormula E.T. breaks out on his debut solo record masterfully presenting his many styles. With such guest appearances as Zumbi of Zion-I, Geo of Blue Scholars and Grayskull of Rhymesayers “pHone Home” has a universal sound that is out of this world like alien landings sure to leave the listener in awe barely standing.
To put it simply, “pHone Home” is a foreign yet familiar idea that Hip Hop needs to return to its familiar roots to create the foreign future we all want to see. E.T. helps create this future by producing instrumentals and mixing/mastering tracks in new innovative eardrum thumping ways. All of his artistry is displayed in the title track, “pHone Home” which is available for download and has a music video at https://www.tradebit.com . In this track E.T. composes an instrumental using nothing but phone sounds just like the founders of Hip Hop innovatively used record players to create instrumentals, E.T. has innovatively changed the way he uses his cell phone.
Other tracks that are guaranteed classics are “5-4-1=OH” (A high energy song about Eugene) “Particular”(a love song for E.T.’s wife) featuring the local saxophone superstar Tomo of Volifonix, “ProFreshN’Ill” (a song that started out with ET calling into a CA radio station with Arseniol Hall). If that wasn’t enough E.T. has linked up with Geo of Blue Scholars from Seattle, WA along with Zumbi of Zion-I from Oakland, CA on “Soul Fly” (an upbeat song about keeping your head up) and with Grayskul of Rhymesayers from Seattle, WA on “In Da Bag” (a song about having paid dues).
E.T. has been patiently honing his talents gaining enough experience and respect to be dubbed as one of the Northwest’s elite Hip Hop artists. He has helped produce two Full Length LPs (“What the pH? 2006 and “No Formula” 2008) and a double disc Northwest Mixtape featuring Cool Nutz, Braile, Lafa Taylor, Marv Ellis, Sapient of Sandpeople, etc. (“Tracktown” 2008). All three releases have sold thousands of copies at live shows and have respectable online sales numbers on iTunes, CDBaby and Amazon. As a part of The pHormula, E.T. has shared the stage with KRS-1, Zion-I, Blue Scholars, Atmosphere, The Flobots, Pharcyde, People Under the Stairs, The Game, Bone Thugz and Harmony, Andre Nicotina and many others. Unfortunately due to personal reasons, 2 years after this release the group went their separate ways. Now performing as a solo artist, E.T. has much more artistic freedom to stretch the limits of his style creating a more edgy and personable sound filled with his life’s stories.
E.T. is self described as “Ear opening Hip Hop with enthralling lyrics over phenomenal beats which raises your fists, touches your heart and ignites artistic passion.” His sound is catchy, but not commercial and progressive, but not preachy. He will be touching down at a venue near you with his first West coast tour “Pick up Ya pHone!” in Spring 2011.
