Vocal and instrumental students now have a new way to rehearse. Laurie Klaus, accompanist at Catawba College for over a decade, records piano accompaniments to pieces often studied at the high school or college level. This premier album contains the popular Italian song Caro mio ben, solos from the Pirates of Penzance, and accompaniments to two flute solos arranged by Donald Peck. Specifically recorded to benefit student rehearsal, Laurie has two tracks for each vocal piece; the first with the melody accompanied by the bass line, the second with full piano accompaniment. Because these pieces are available for download, the student can practice anywhere, any time, whether in a practice studio, outside, in a dorm room, or in the studio with the instructor. Pieces that begin with the solo voice or instrument on the first beat contain a one measure count-in on the soloist''s starting note.
