COMPOSER MUSIC BIOGRAPHY

Award winning composer, Alan Koshiyamaʼs debut into the world of film and television music began when Dick Wolf Productions/ Universal MCA “Law & Order” producers asked him to compose the score for their independent short and TV pilot, “The Toothfairy Gets Greedy.” Since then, his music has entertained audiences worldwide through an impressive resume of feature film, television, and national commercial work with credits ranging from Disney, ABC, TBS, ESPN, and PBS, to Time Warner/Turner Original Productions, The Hallmark Channel, The Discovery Channel, and 20th Century Fox Atomic.

Koshiyamaʼs music can be heard on the movies, “National Lampoonʼs Thanksgiving Reunion” for 20th Century Fox, "The Gambler, the Girl, and the Gunslinger" for Hallmark Channel Original Movies, and Lions Gate Films, “Fugitive Hunter.” Koshiyamaʼs original score for the movie, “Dead Dogs,” helped earn the film “Best American Independent Award” at the prestigious Seattle International Film Festival. Variety Magazine calls Koshiyamaʼs music, “...evocative.”

Television shows include "Teenage Confidential," an ABC Afterschool Special, "Alaska''s Bush Pilots" for Turner Original Production''s "Wild Life Adventures" series, as well as video games for Electronic Arts, musical toys for Walt Disney, and a theme park-style submarine ride attraction at Catalina Island. Koshiyama composed the music score for Namco''s 30th Anniversary Pac-Man release for Nintendo Wii, titled "Pac-Man Party." A collection of Koshiyama''s work can be heard at The Museum of Television and Radio in New York and Los Angeles.

Classically trained on piano and clarinet as a child, it wasn''t until Koshiyama "fell in love and later became obsessed" with the art of jazz when he began to branch out into other forms of commercial music. His talent has taken him worldwide to such venues as the National Philharmonic Concert Hall in Ljubljana, Slovenia to the prestigious North American Monterey Jazz Festival. Yet the orchestra, what he calls a "canvas for emotion," remains his prominent choice of colors.

Koshiyama is an affiliate of BMI and also serves as Worship Music Director at Adventure Christian Church in Northern California, U.S.A.
