Details:
Bandiqui are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to their debut album due out this year (Summer 2011).
Bandiqui are vocalist, Rebecca Robyns and guitarist Peter Cox, both from East Yorkshire in the UK.
Rebecca began "Classical Voice Training" at age 8 and continued until she was 19 years old, convinced she would pursue a career in Opera before realising after much soul searching that her true vocal identity was with Jazz, Blues and World inspired music. Rebecca studied privately in New York City under the mentorship of Jazz musician/pianist Martin https://www.tradebit.comrence (Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra), who helped to develope her voice and confidence to pursue this new and exciting genre. Rebecca is the lyricist in Bandiqui and always writes from an honest/autobiograph standpoint, her rich vocals receive praise wherever she performs and has had her voice described as "like liquid chocolate". Her influences range from Cassandra Wilson through to Maria Callas, and credits Dame Shirley Bassey as a strong childhood influence.
Peter Cox, songwriter and guitarist of Bandiqui has worked extensively in the music world for many years playing ''progressive jazz rock'' ,Jazz improvisation and has worked as a session musician which has taken him throughout the UK and Europe. He also spent 9 year''s touring as "Chris Stein" with Blondie tribute band Heart of Glass. A musical journeyman, Pete is also a member of the experimental fusion band "Fear of Bicycles". Pete''s influences are broad as he first started out as a Viola player before transfering to the guitar, therefore he has a love of everything from Miles Davis, through to stravinksy and Bartock.
