Chailo Sim emerge from a weathered and beautiful welsh seascape to offer up a distinct and considerably admired contribution to alt-folk. The symmetry between acoustic earnest and charged electric intrepidity creates the perfect envelope to deliver the band''s personal internal musings - with a concise introduction of nine songs, the future course of the band is set beautifully in the first release with a debut album called ''Replete'' (2010).
Working seamlessly together to create the material, the five members of the band share an understanding of simple and raw syncopated sound. With minimal effects going into the arrangements, the sheer energy wrapped up in the chord progressions leads at times to moments of unbounded cinematic bliss. The vocals of singer Nayfe SJ lend a grounding to the music - often described as sounding reminiscent of a younger Neil Young, with elements of Nick Drake.
From somewhat enigmatic origins, Chailo Sim have managed to transcend the far west peninsula of St Bride''s Bay in Pembrokeshire to reach critical acclaim among deeply admired record labels such as Bella Union (Fleet Foxes / Midlake) and Heavenly Recordings (Fionn Regan / Cherry Ghost). Traction has taken hold on a number of national Radio stations, with an exclusive playing of the band''s first written track ''Latch'' on BBC Radio Wales, hosted by esteemed Welsh DJ Adam Thomas Walton, who continues to champion and support the band.
