My Life, My Music My Story.
My name is Karl Lattimer and I am a young singer songwriter. At the age of seven I was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome. I used to be very quiet and shy person and I tended to exist in a world of my own. My mum and dad noticed that I would be amused by music for hours on end and so they bought a cheap piano. I would spend hours playing the notes and trying to make up little tunes in my head. When I was eight I was introduced to a fantastic piano teacher who had lots of patience and once I had learned to read and play music I knew that I had found something I could be really good at and really loved doing and as a result I gained a great deal of confidence, came out of my shell and left my own little world behind once and for all. I still have lessons with the same piano teacher today and she is currently helping me to achieve grade 8 standard.
At the age of nine I started to learn to play the flute and then the guitar. Through my music I have made many like minded friends at school and I am no longer that shy quiet person anymore. I feel that I can express myself naturally through my music. I have been in the school choir for many years now but I have had no formal singing tuition.
At the age of thirteen I started to write my own music and my first song was titled (Home Is Where The Heart Is” People ask me where I get the ideas for my songs from but to be perfectly honest they just pop into my head.
I entered a talent competition for the first time whilst on holiday when I was thirteen and I won the competition. Ever since that day I have wanted to entertain and I have performed in restaurants, at birthday parties, at my local music festival and at much larger local entertainment venues including The Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth, Bournemouth Pavilion and The Lighthouse Theatre at Poole. I have also performed in front of Sharleen Spiteri, Will Young and Jamie Cullum for SKY TV’s “Must Be The Music” I have also played on Hope FM radio and appeared in the grand final of Talentcall 2010.
I would really love to have a full time career in the music industry and I am determined to give it my best shot.
In addition to the four songs you can hear on this site I am in the process of recording another two.
