Eleven years ago, while in their early teens, Kate and her friend Tyler were playing guitar in his parent’s garage. She started singing and Tyler said, “Hey. That sounds pretty good.” He set up a microphone and things haven’t been the same since.
Kate has played music in bars, cafes, churches, auditoriums, living rooms, and even in an airport hangar. It was the years singing and playing in church that really gave her the chance to develop as a vocalist, though. It was there she learned how to sing harmonies and transpose chords on the guitar. It also gave her the invaluable experience of singing in front of hundreds of people every week.
Though inspired by many artists from various genres, those closest to her heart are Brandi Carlile, The Wailin’ Jennys and Patty Griffin.
“Love You Still” is Kate’s debut EP, the culmination of all those years of playing and singing and listening.
